PdfRecast guide
Edit a PDF in a browser workspace
PdfRecast combines text correction, page management, signatures, annotations, OCR, and export in one editor. The correct editing method depends on whether the page contains native PDF text, a scanned image, or a flattened visual layout.
How to use this workflow
- Open a PDF and inspect whether its text is selectable or image-based.
- Edit supported native text directly, or run OCR to create reviewable text boxes on scanned pages.
- Add text, signatures, drawings, blank pages, rotations, or redactions as needed.
- Save the document, download it, and compare important content with the original.
When direct text editing may not work
Some PDFs store letters with custom font encodings, split words across drawing commands, or flatten an entire page into an image. In those cases the editor may use OCR or visual replacement instead of changing a normal text object.
OCR is an aid, not a guarantee. Low-resolution scans, handwriting, skewed pages, background marks, and uncommon scripts can reduce recognition accuracy. Always review the boxes and the saved PDF.
