Permanently cover sensitive information in a PDF copy
PdfRecast can scan supported text for patterns such as email addresses, phone numbers, and other likely sensitive values, then lets you review every suggestion. Redaction should remove the selected content from the exported copy rather than merely drawing a removable annotation over it.
How to use this workflow
- Open the document and choose whether to scan the current page or all pages.
- Review suggested areas and add or remove selections manually.
- Create a redacted output copy and keep the original in a separate safe location.
- Search, copy, zoom, and inspect the exported file to confirm the information cannot be recovered.
Redaction requires human review
Automated pattern detection cannot understand every account number, name, address, handwritten note, image, attachment, metadata field, or unusual formatting. It can also flag harmless text.
